The Orion Nebula is one of the most famous deep sky objects. It is the closest major region of new star formation to earth, only about 1350 light years distant. Consequently, it is one of the few diffuse nebulae that is visible to the naked eye. This photograph was taken in Salem, Arkansas on January 3rd, 2024.
