The Helix nebula is created by a small, but dense central star that is pushing out layers of gas towards the end of its life. The central star's heat and light acting on the outer gases produce the helix nebula colors, which strongly resemble a human eye. The nebula is close in cosmic distance at 655 light years away. This version is in the "Hubble palette" as it was taken with a narrowband filter to show only light emitted from hydrogen and oxygen atoms. This photo was taken in Nashville, Arkansas on November 23rd, 2024.
Each metal print will come with a metal easel stand or a wall float mount, included in the price.
