The Eagle Nebula (M16), is so named for the dark eagle-like shape at the top of the bright nebula. About 5700 light years distant, the gas and dust of the nebula are striking, and almost cave-like against the backdrop of dark sky. This photo was taken in Elkhart, Indiana on June 5th, 2024
